Ranch House Cafe

From time to time as I travel through the barren expanse of west Texas, I'll spy a disused building that's been baking in the sun long enough to give it an oddly beautiful decrepitude, and I'll take a picture to add to my reference trove. The rusty metal star with its burned-out light bulbs, rising majestically into the big Texas sky to advertise a business that appears to have been long abandoned, struck me as particularly poignant, and I knew I had to paint it.
