This was painted in about 2 hours on the other side of the guardrail on a curve of the highway above the Ojo Caliente river. I was struck by the golden cottonwoods and their color against the more muted desert landscape. The ribbon of life provided by the sinuous river is so interesting. Trucks kept coming around the bend honking (and startling me with every blow of the horn). I was kind of angry at the constant interruptions in my concentration. Afterwards someone told me there is a "honk for artists" slogan in New Mexico and this made me smile.
