Kitchen Garden

I painted this scene from the shade of a huge tree, making the bean poles my subject. The gardens in this historic village are well-tended by volunteers and offer endless opportunities for a painter seeking inspiration. I was happy to capture a contrast of sun and shade and the tiny cottage to the right.
