The Emerald Dress

I use acrylic glazing to allow the light to come through on each layer.
My inspiration on this one was because of a friend of mine and his daughter who had just gone through cancer. The chemo had taken all of her hair and it was just starting to grow back and she's on the road to recovery. In all of that process she missed her grade 12 graduation and this was her ceremony put on by her parents to celebrate her victories. The emerald dress captures the beauty and grace of this young woman who has conquered her struggles with cancer. The breathtaking view of the Fairmont Hotel Banff Springs in Alberta, with attention to the detail in the stained glass, encompasses that grace and elegance and displays her true beauty.
