THE RUINS AT EPHESUS

I love looking at paintings from my trips because I experience it all over again. So intensely. I was in Turkey several years ago but when I view this I can remember walking through these ruins like it was yesterday.
I used the shadow pattern to draw the eye inwards. I did not fully develop the columns, spectacular though they were, because I didn't want the eye to rest there. I want the viewer to travel onwards through the hills.
