Pure Country

I was inspired by the splashes of sunlight painting en plein air at Tommy Johnson's field in East Rowan County, NC. It was a beautiful, crisp, cool morning in mid-October. The sun was skipping across the grass in such splashes of light that I literally couldn't paint it fast enough. I did manage to capture the perfect light and values before I lost this feel and finished this piece in the studio
