Body Weight; where Sea meets Sky

Begun en plein air on Gloucester’s Backshore. I observe pattern, shape and color variation in the basic elements of sea, sky and rock. I use gestural brushwork and heightened color to express mood and to recreate my response to nature in that moment. This painting was completed in my studio as I was also reacting to the terminal diagnosis of a dear friend.
