Écorce d'arbutus

Arbutus bark falls off the trees in July-August on Vancouver Island Canada. This paper thin bark flies off the trees, and fall wherever it may land. My balcony becomes completely occupied by this precious paper thin bark, each piece having it's own colour and shape. One morning, I found my dish clothes (which had been out to dry in the full sun) covered in many pieces of bark, and out came my easel and canvas. The rest is history!
