I Am the Sunlight

I Am the Sunlight, Landscape
I Am the Sunlight
The Title came from the following story: This was created in the studio, from a small plein air I had captured on a trip to Ireland in 1997. When the original was complete, a little bird landed on the cattlegate I had to look over, to observe this scene. This little guy looked at me, then the painting! "Yea, I told myself, he REALLY is looking at your painting!!!" Well, it must have heard my thoughts, cause it looked at me again, then at the painting...3 times total! I got some sunflower seeds out of my pack, held my hand out, and it landed on my thumb and took one and flew away.
The next morning I met a man from Spain, named Gabrielle. He allowed me to go with him up to Ross Castle. Enroute the same sort of bird landed in front of us...I stooped to photograph it, and it flew 10 feet. I followed this little guy down the road and tried 5 times to get a shot...finally gave up!
That night, I pulled my journal out, to write about these 2 little birds. I discovered that the day the little guy looked at my painting, was the first anniversary of my Father's Passing! I guess he just wanted me to know, he was still watching over me!! Thus the title: I AM THE SUNLIGHT, taken from a Native American Poem that starts: "Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I did not sleep: I am a thousand winds that blow, I am diamond glints in snow....I am the bright stars that shine at night...do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die."
